Dr. David Larson, MD, MBA, FACS, FASCRS serves as chair of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Larson leads Mayo Clinic's enterprise practice expense manage program. He holds the academic rank of Professor of Surgery in the College of Medicine at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Larson received his medical degree from the University Of Minnesota School Of Medicine and completed his residency and clinical fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Larson earned his MBA with emphasis in healthcare. Dr. Larson’s research interests included colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, laparoscopic colon and rectal surgery, and robotic surgery.
During the webinar, we will discuss Mayo Clinic's overall clinical practice expense reduction program called Practice Optimization and Acceleration (POA). This program is a way to transform Mayo Clinic's practice for providing the highest quality affordable care to its patients. The key tenets of the program include standardizing of care, improving quality, and managing expenses.
A brief case study on the Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) project will be discussed. The objective of the project was to standardize the care and reduce costs across three Mayo Clinic sites in Rochester, Arizona, and Florida, while maintaining and improving outcomes and the patient experience.
